RFG Chairman Tony Berkeley announces autumn retirement

RFG Chairman Tony Berkeley has announced his intention to retire as Chairman at the RFG Annual General Meeting in November. The Board of Directors, who met last week, will now consider the role of the Chair going forward and the basis of the appointment of a replacement for Tony.

In the meantime, Tony will continue his work for RFG including in Brussels as a Board Member of the European Rail Freight Association and ALLRAIL. Executive Director Maggie Simpson will continue to lead RFG’s work in representing the interests of the rail freight sector to Government, Network Rail, the Office of Rail and Road and others in the industry.

Tony Berkeley commented: “It has been a privilege to have worked for RFG and its members in the rail freight sector for some 20 years but at a time when RFG, under Maggie Simpson’s leadership, is in the best possible state to take on the challenges facing the industry, it is time for me to stand aside and ensure a smooth transition with a new Chair.”

The Board were unanimous in their praise and thanks for Tony’s efforts in firmly establishing the RFG as an informed and effective champion of the rail freight sector during his tenure as Chairman.
