DfT Guidance to BRBR on land sales
DfT have issued revised guidance to BRBR regarding the disposal of retained land sites. In future, parties wishing to retain land for future use will be required to pay a holding fee, and purchase timescales are to be tightened.

Energy White Paper
The DTI Energy White Paper has some implications for the rail freight business. At this early stage, the full implications are not known - the attached note gives a brief summary of current issues.

RFG position on new freight routes
Rail Freight will need more capacity for long term growth. RFG has welcomed the Freight RUS, which sets out the infrastructure investment likely to be required to accommodate freight growth to 2015. Beyond 2015, our forecasts show that rail freight will continue to grow, particularly if road user charging is implemented. The investment set out in the Freight RUS is unlikely to be sufficient to accommodate long term freight growth alongside expected passenger growth (8 March 2007)
