The March issue of the Rail Freight Group’s (RFG) regular newsletter, RFG News, has been published today.
Copies will be available for all our members from next week, although delegates at the next RFG regional meeting will be the first to receive them.
It leads with the vital gauging upgrade work at Southampton Tunnel, which RFG chairman Tony Berkeley was invited to visit, and welcomes the successful completion of much of the work by Network Rail, allowing high cube containers to link up with the West Coast Main Line on standard wagons.
We include reports on the opening of the new DB Schenker terminal at Rugby, delve into the issues of franchising, the trialling of new WH Davis wagons and the main challenges for the rail sector this year.
RFG News 82 also contains other news both from the UK and mainland Europe, our successful RFG Awards ceremony, and reports from Westminster, Wales and the European Rail Freight Association (ERFA).
