| RFG today welcomed the publication of the Report by the House of Lords Select Committee on the Crossrail Bill, in which the Committee ‘recognised the importance of rail freight to the UK economy’ and were ‘grateful to the freight Petitioners for organising themselves and presenting their cases efficiently and clearly.’

| The purpose of the document is to provide clear guidance on how and in what circumstances state aids may be paid to railways undertakings. It replaces very ambiguous ‘custom and practice’ applied with varying degrees of effectiveness. |

Another West Coast Main Line failure!

| RFG today (3rd May) expressed its strong disappointment at ORR’s decision to allow Network Rail to close the West Coast Main Line for longer and more frequent periods than were planned last year, in order to complete the planned route upgrade by December 2008. |
