Decarbonising rail freight traction – research results and next steps – Recording

RFG was delighted to join Andrew Kluth and Paul Smart for an RFG members-only webinar, which examined the results of the RSSB’s T1160 project (Decarbonisation and air quality improvement of the freight rail industry).

T1160’s overarching objective is to support the UK Rail freight industry move towards decarbonisation and reductions in emissions in line with UK policy, while making sure the commercial elements for rail freight are considered and balanced. The final report highlights what can be done in principle to maximise freight decarbonisation, and raises some further research questions that focus on the best compromise between this ideal and what can be achieved in practical and economic terms on a passenger-prioritised rail network.
